Sheet remnants: store them, find them, use them

Remnants are material you have already paid for. A simple workflow keeps them in use instead of in the scrap bin.

The last sheet of a job is rarely full. The unused part – the remnant – is often large enough for the next job, but only if someone remembers it and the nesting software knows its exact shape.

1. Separate the remnant with a straight cut

SRSA NEST can draw a cut-off line behind the last part at a chosen distance. The line can be exported to DXF (layer REMNANT) so the machine cuts the remnant off cleanly. Remnants shorter than a set minimum are not separated – they are not worth storing.

2. Save it to stock with one click

The cut-off remnant of the current sheet – or of all sheets – is added to the sheet stock as a new format. Remnants get a high priority automatically, so the next nesting uses them first.

3. Remnants of any shape

Irregular remnants can be imported from a DXF outline. Holes in the outline are treated as defects that parts must avoid, and the sheet margin is kept from the remnant edge as well.
